Getting started with Zapier and Dasheroo is very easy and only takes a few minutes. Here’s a quick overview on how to get everything set up.
First, select the Zapier option from the Dasheroo insight Library
Next, choose either the line or area chart insight.
Important: Take note of the pre-filled URL within the section that says “Statistics.” This is the URL that is uniquely tied to the insight you are adding to your dashboard. You will add this URL into Zapier when setting up your Zap. This URL is the direct link between Zapier and Dasheroo and is how data will be sent from your trigger app into your dashboard.
Next, log into your Zapier account and create a new Zap. Choose your trigger application and trigger details.
Next, select Dasheroo as your action app
Next, from within Dasheroo, copy the URL from the Zapier insight that you added to your dashboard in the steps above. Paste that in the URL section here as shown in the screenshot below.
As for value, you can choose any valid data from the trigger application as long as it’s a numeric value. Remember the data you send will be plotted as a trending line graph. So choose metrics like revenue, orders, no. of items etc. Don’t use values like contact name, company name, address etc.
If you want to send data to Dasheroo whenever a new contact is added in Pipedrive or a new ticket in Zendesk is created, then choose 1 as the data so that each time a trigger occurs, Dasheroo will increment your dashboard insight by 1.
label: This name will be displayed in your insight in Dasheroo. Either choose a name from the trigger app or provide your own.
Strategy: This can be either continuous or interval. The strategy tells us how to treat a metric that you want to track.
- continuous (default) - a rolling total (example: the size of a mailing list)
- interval - resets to zero at the beginning of each day (example: new Facebook Fans)
Dasheroo Zaps Tips:
Although label is optional, always provide a label value. This will ensure that you see the metric in your Dasheroo insight.
Date field is also optional. If you dont choose a date value, the current date will be used for data that is sent from the trigger application. This way your line or chart area will be populated with the right date.
If you are tracking data like # of Zendesk tickets or # of tasks in Asana, make sure to mark the data as 1 so that Dasheroo knows to increment your metric by 1 every time a new ticket or task is created.
Once you are done setting up your Zap, just click finish and then make sure to turn it on. As soon as it’s live you’ll be able to start seeing data populate your Zapier insight within your Dasheroo dashboard.
