Why don't all insights support custom date ranges?

With Dasheroo you can easily change the date range for your dashboard. You can use the pre-built ranges (last 30, 14 or 7 days) or create a custom date range using the calendar. But in some cases, insights on your dashboard will not display when a custom date range is applied.

Here is what you'll see if you have an insight that is not supported by your custom date range:

The reason you see this is that for these insight types, due to the size of the data set on the provider's side, Dasheroo cannot mirror their databases for every possible date range permutation.

Dasheroo is also, bound by call limits set by each provider to a specified number of API calls for data, making actively asking for a new data set on the fly a very cost and time prohibitive process.

To solve for this, we instead store fixed snapshots of your data in 7, 14, and 30-day intervals.

We do understand that this becomes more apparent when a month ends in 31-days, and you attempt to run a full month report.

We are working on some ways to offer more flexible reporting in this scenario and alleviate this problem in the future.
